Brandon,
####See previous rebuttals, and perhaps, you should go to your local
library (big building with all the books) and read a few chapters on basic
logic and rational argument structure.####
I appreciate your efforts and the time you have taken to discuss this topic
with me. However, I simply do not have the time or desire to keep trying to get
through to you that you are the one with the burden of evidence. We are arguing
in circles, with you asking me to constantly disprove YOUR supernatural claims.
I will repeat that, AS FAR AS WE KNOW, reality only consists of the
material universe. You are asserting that something more than this exists, therefore
you have the responsibility to define what it is you are talking about and make
reasonable arguments for it.
Here are what I see as your main points, and why I object to them:
You appeal to the design argument for "God," but nature gives no
evidence of possessing intelligent design. Sorry.
You appeal to popular belief in the supernatural as evidence for the
supernatural. However, you do not accept MOST people's supernatural beliefs. I
view this as hypocrisy.
You say that since we don't know everything about everything, doubting
"God's" existence is wrong. This is the argument from ignorance and
it is ridiculous. Ignorance is no reason for a positive belief.
I will post of all our correspondence to the page-response page 8-that I have
been maintaining of our conversation at my web site. If you were not yet
aware of it, it is located here:
http://the-anointed-one.com/bbu85/responses8.htm#Chr
Additionally, I have created a forum just for you on my discussion boards. It
is entitled "Brandon 'dismembers' atheist arguments" and it is
located here:
http://pub7.ezboard.com/fcbbbfrm11
You are free to post whatever you want, whenever you want and argue with anyone
who challenges you. The boards are frequented by several atheists (former
Christians, like myself) so you are guaranteed to have an audience. This forum
is linked to my website and will be linked from our discussion page. I
will respond to you there if you can come up with better definitions or support
for your claims. I am just tired of repeating myself, telling you that
you have the burden of proof, telling you that you have to define what you are
talking about, and then having to code virtually the same e-mails into a
webpage every couple of weeks. What is the point?
Hope to see you on the board-
Brooks
