| ...that the bible is just a book just like the Koran is just a book Yeah. How do you differentiate between the two? Why don't you accept the Koran? I mean, they are both ancient books? Well, yeah, yeah I understand that. But first of all, I mean simply reading the book is, uh, is an incredible thing. I mean there is no... uh.. ....there is no other, there is no other...uh...book that I've read personally that uh...uh...has as much...wisdom and knowledge in it. You think so? I've read... Absolutely. I've read the Bible from cover to cover and the Old Testament to me is just a catalogue of atrocities. Yeah it is a catalogue of atrocities because you have a warped view of God. Ummm... That's why. Well... And and and and also, and also Brooks you see it, its...uh...ya know...uh...you're coming at it from a point of view that uh, you are, you have a bias in, in reading the word of God. No, I mean I used to be a Christian and I... No no you never were a Christian. No, I used to believe in God. I used to believe in Jesus Christ but...And believe me if, I mean, believe me, if I wa...if I thought there was some possibility of living forever and avoiding eternal torture I would, I'd work like anything... But you see your whole motivation for it, Brooks, is wrong and that proves that you never were a Christian. That is not the...for purpose for Christianity is to go to heaven. What is the purp... Th-That is not why one becomes a Christian, to go to heaven. Wh- (voice rising) One becomes a Christian because he recognizes his sin before a holy and righteous god and the problem is Brooks is you're so proud and arrogant before this holy and righteous God that you can not see who He truly is. And so you can come to the Old Testament and thumb your nose at God and say "Oh you're unjust to do what you did." Because you think you're somebody special, Brooks. Well, why are people sinful? Uh... What do you mean why are they sinful? Why? I mean the obvious question, Brooks. I think, I think you have the intelligence to answer that question. Take a look at this world around us and. and, and uh ask this same question why are human beings... No, according to the... so sinful. According to the Bible...uh... people are sinful because a woman ate an apple... No... ...off of a tree. According to the Bible people are sinful because they rebelled against God, it has nothing to do with the apple. It could have been anything. The fact is the sin is that they disobeyed God. Uh huh. So... Not that they ate an apple! Could you explain one thing to me? I'd be happy to. Uhmm... You know that. What do you base your morality on? Because apparently your greate...the greatest thing you could do is to make God happy. Anything that God would tell you to do you would do. Uh, on one of your programs you said that you would support slavery if God told you to support slavery. Uh huh. I mean, what wouldn't you do if God told you to do it? Nothing. So, if God told you to throw acid into little children's faces, would you do that? Well, th-that's a stupid question, Brooks. No it's not. Brooks! In the Old Testament God orders the Israelites to go out and hack to death men, women and children with swords. Absolutely He did... He... No question about it, Brooks...There is absolutely no question about the fact that God told the Israelites to go into nations and to utterly destroy them every man, every woman and every child. Every pregnant woman...every child... Absolutely! ...every infant. Yes! Absolutely! And you think that is just and... Absolutely I do. ...and moral? You think that's right? Yes, I have no problem with that whatsoever. None. In the last century, in a smallpox outbreak... You know why, Brooks? Why? You know why? Why? You really want an answer to the question or do you just wanna keep throwing these things out for the rest of your life... ahh... ...Brooks? I'm... You see, you're not looking for answers, Brooks. All you want to do is keep throwing these things out to try and cause dissension and division. (laughs) You don't want answers, Brooks. I want answers... Because every time an answer is...uh, an answer to your question is given, you just move on to something else. Well, explain to me why that is right? What do you mean why it's right?! Because these nations were completely and totally and utterly corrupt, to the bone. They were sacrificing their own children in the fire to Baal. Okay. And so... And God was establishing a holy and a righteous nation before this world. And they deserved everything that they got. Uh. The wages of sin is death. And before a holy and a righteous God Man deserves total and complete annihilation. But God out of his mercy and out of his love has chosen to spare us. Ahhh...it is just amazing... Well, of course it's amazing. Because you have a warped view of God. No, I believe...I believe our high, the highest... You don't understand His holiness....and his righteousness. You see the fact is God did not rebel against man, man rebelled against Him. Man is the one who thumbed his nose at God. When God was offering everything in the universe to Man, Man thumbed his nose. And God is offering everything in the universe to you, Brooks, and you continually to thumb you nose at Him, so don't you think that you can stand before Him someday and say "Hey God, you were unjust," Brooks, because you've had a chance, and you have that chance now, and you just keep thumbing your nose, and, hey, we'll see what happens, man. (weak laugh) Thanks for the call. Need to move one-I've got lots of callers. Okay. Appreciate it-bye. 1 800 955-8200 is the number. Amy in Kirkland-go ahead... |
